postea Turicini, et Turegenses, populi Helvetiae fortissimi, quam in 4. pagos, e quibus unus Tigurinus appellatus fuit, divisam refert Caesar, l. 1. Bell. Gall. c. 12. Hi A. M. 3758. cum Tuginis et Ambronibus Gallis, Cimbris se iunxerunt, et tripartitô agmine Galliam Narbonensem ingressi, illam vastârunt. Cassium dein Consulem Rom. devicerunt: de quo sic Caesar, Hîc pagus unus cum domô exisset, L. Cassium Consulem et L. Pisonem Legatum praeliô interfecerat, incautos, exercituque Consulari pulsô et sub iugum missô, insignem calamitatem populo Romano intulerat. Factum id autem est in finibus Allobrogum, qui dextrum Rhodanum accolunt, Florus, Epit. l. 65. belli Iugurthini temporibus; Orosius, l. 5. c. 15 qui addit, Quint. Publium, alterum Legatum, ne residua exercitûs portio deleretur, obsides et dimidiam rerum omnium partem Tigurinis, turpissimô foedere, dedisse. Postea, cum Helvetit novas in Gallia sedes quaesituri, oppida quique sua incendissent, ne revertendi desideriô conatus tantus impediretut: occurrens Caesar, insidiis et fraude Tigurinos, partem tum Helvetiorum quartam, circumvenit. Complectebatur autem tum Tigurinorum tractus Tigurinos, Tuginos, Uranios, Glaronenses, Abbatiscellanos, itemque Sangallum, Rupertivillam, Terminos seu fines Toggeburgenses, et eam regionem universam, quae circa Podamicum est, et Rhenum, antiquumque Turgoviae retinuit nomen, Guillim. l. 1. p. 1.
